Abby:
Life as a schoolteacher wasn’t always easy.
When a student’s house burned down, the principal asked me to contact the fire station.
I reached out to Roman, a friend and captain at the station, and he assigned a firefighter to come talk to the students about fire safety.
When the firefighter walked into my classroom, I almost couldn’t believe who I saw.
It was Kole, my childhood best friend, and first crush.
I hadn’t seen him since the day of the incident… And I didn’t know how to feel.
After talking to the class, he wanted to catch up.
Every fiber of my being wanted to, but my pride wouldn’t allow it.

Seeing Abby completely took me by surprise.
But as soon as I lay eyes on her, I realized just how much I had missed her.
She didn’t seem all that happy to see me, so I respectfully kept my distance.
That is, until Harris invited me to go for drinks with him and some of his girlfriend’s friends.
I couldn’t believe Abby would be there.
She ended up needed a ride home.
I was happy to help. And to have a chance to explain what happened that day long ago.
I just hoped she would give me a chance, and be willing to make up for lost time together.
