You can take the man out of the SEALs, but you can’t take the SEAL out of the man. After retiring from the Navy, I run a very lucrative, and demanding security consultant business that frequently takes me to the most dangerous parts of the world.
I’ve just gotten back from a long, stressful mission overseas. I need to unwind in the remote cabin in the Hawk Valley mountains that’s been in my family for generations and shake these lingering demons off my back.

After the mugging I endured a few months ago, life in the city just isn’t working for me. I’m scared of every shadow, every corner, and everything that goes bump in the night.
I decide to spend spring break up in the Hawk Valley mountains, refresh myself, and come back to finish my senior year with clear eyes. Maybe I can even build my photography portfolio while I’m at it.
A hike along the trail seems like it’s going to go really badly when I sprain my ankle, but then this older, hardened mountain man comes to my rescue, and I think I’m about to get more on this getaway than I ever bargained for…
