When his dad makes it obvious he isn’t going to kick the good-for-nothing thief and liar of a son and Branson’s brother to the curb, Branson decides he can’t sit and watch his father shower undeserved praise on a man who will undoubtedly just steal from him again and leave him swinging in the breeze. So, he decides to leave himself and ends up following his friend Jefferson to the town of Haven Hills… where he meets Keaton and proceeds to lose his mind.
Keaton is straight… he thinks. That’s default mode, right? What everyone just assumes they’re set at until they find out that they’re not? So, the fact that he likes the attention he gets because he’s attractive more than the actual people giving the attention doesn’t mean anything… except that he might be a bit of an ass. It’s okay, he’s a good ass… with a good ass. It also doesn’t mean anything that he never seems to be attracted to anyone. But… lately, he’s started to look at his friend a little differently. When he first met Branson, of course he noticed the guy was attractive, but it was more in a jealous, he-better-not-steal-my-attention way. Then something changes. It’s like the more he knows Branson, the more he notices how incredibly hot the man is. Like really, really hot. So, what does that make him? And does it even matter?
To Branson, Keaton is an enticing mystery wrapped up in the best kind of crazy and sealed shut with an adorable idiot lock. He knows Keaton is straight, even if the guy is a little more open about some things than he was aware of… and it probably would have been better if he didn’t know, but some things can’t be unsaid… and others can’t be unseen. He was doing okay at keeping the ridiculous crush he had on the man under control, but then Keaton becomes his roommate and it’s almost impossible to ignore the chemistry. As Keaton reveals more and more about himself, Branson realizes the man might not be as straight as he thought, but as much as he would love to explore this thing with his best friend, he’s not sure he can survive the oh-wait-I-really-am-straight waiting for him at the end.
