Fake bride, fake priest, fake altar….real feelings?
I married my mother’s new husband.
Yeah, let that sink in. I said ‘I do’ to my daddy, Declan Marin, and it’s even weirder than it sounds.
We’re doing Mom a favor and filling in last-minute as contestants on her reality TV show, Wed At First Sight, after two others dropped out. The deal was simple—pretend to be contestants, pretend to get married, then get voted off the show as soon as possible to make way for the real contestants.
But it’s not that easy.
Firstly, I can’t stand Declan. He might be my brand new daddy, but that doesn’t mean I want to go anywhere near him, let alone pretend to be married to him on national TV. He’s a cocky prick, and he’s too panty-meltingly handsome for his own damn good. Oh, and his marriage to my mother is just a loveless sham, so technically he’s in a fake marriage within another fake marriage. It’s like Inception, only it’s more of a nightmare than a dream, because I’m stuck right in the middle of it.
Secondly, the Wed At First Sight viewers love us as a couple. They won’t vote us out, so now I’m stuck on this awful show, sharing a room with Dec as my fake husband.
Even worse, I’m starting to develop actual feelings for him, against all better judgment. Nothing can happen for obvious reasons, but I don’t know if I can stop myself from falling.
This is all supposed to be pretend, so why does it suddenly feel so real? A fake marriage can’t possibly lead to a real relationship….right?
I guess I’ll find out soon, because I’ve never been good at faking it…
