I don’t think about what happened in high school. Instead, I joined the Army and channeled my anger into being the best sniper I could be. It was a tough job, but the world’s a better place.
Now, I’m back home in Valor, riding with my brothers and working to make this town better than we found it. All I want is to build my house, do my job, and serve my community. My heart is locked away and I see no reason to change that.
And then Maggie barges back into my life. The only girl I’ve ever loved. She’s got sinful curves and a sweet smile that makes me want all the things I’ve sworn off. All the things I thought we would have, when we dated in high school. A life together. A family. Love.
It didn’t work then, so it won’t work now. But f* if seeing her doesn’t stir a war inside of me. I question whether we can make a future when the past still hangs over us. Can we survive the forces that want to keep us apart?
