Getting close to anyone is dangerous. For them.
Decades of doing the dirty work that never makes the evening news caught up with me.
I took to the mountains. Sequestering myself. Hoping to live out my years in reclusive peace.
Only, I didn’t count on Raven. Her dark hair and mystic blue eyes hit me low and hard.
She’s off limits. The prize I cannot claim.
But, she’s out of control. She needs me and I feel a sense of purpose. I’ll be her guardian, her rock, her protector and so much more.
She may need some convincing, and even if I have to tie her to my bed so she understands her new place in my life, so be it. She’s a hellcat with the heart of a little girl who needs a strong hand and a compassionate heart.
But, when my past comes calling, it’s her they target.
Big mistake. I’ll scorch the earth. Leave bodies in my wake. We’ll run. Together. Until my past fades away and our future is secure.
No one will take my baby from me. Right or wrong, she’s mine. Now and forever.
