He’s a warrior, yes, but Trip has always considered himself more of a tactician. He can see what’s coming and plan for it. Until his kif’s ship is suddenly taken by space pirates, and he discovers his mate is one of the most confounding creatures he has ever met.

Luk’s people live by one rule: might is right. They see what they want, and take it. When Luk’s ship comes across an alien craft, nothing is standing in their way, except a ragtag pack of warrior aliens. One of which Luk feels indescribably drawn to. But it isn’t as easy as wanting and taking. Luk has always worked hard to be as ruthless as his brother, the captain. But Trip makes him want to be gentle.

As long as he stood with his brother, he was invincible. But now he has a mate, and when he discover’s he’s pregnant, the vicious men of his ship scent weakness, something that the captain cannot accept.

To protect their child, Luk will have to rely on Trip’s brains and the strength of his kif. It undermines everything Luk has ever stood for… and if Trip can’t stay one step ahead of the pirates, they’re all doomed.
