Isaac Baxter left Texas at the age of eighteen. It was all he could do. His cowboy father essentially disowned him and abandoned the family. All because he couldn’t take his son’s sexuality.
Now, his father is on the brink of death in the Texas ghost town of Rhode’s Pike. All Isaac really wants in the world is closure. He wants to move forward, to stop feeling the ghosts from his past. So, he decides to journey to West Texas and speak to Thomas Baxter for the first time in eleven years. He’s going to say goodbye.
Wyatt Masters is a failed actor, new journalist and hungry for a story. While in New Mexico, he stumbles into a group of hippie twenty-somethings, traveling by RV to West Texas. They’re preparing for the “beings from Venus” to arrive and take them “up where they belong.” Wyatt thinks he’s fallen into story of a lifetime.
The evil Everett McLean sets up his cult on the outskirts of Isaac’s father’s ranch. So begins the feud between the cult leader and the dying cowboy, in the center of an already dead town.
Soon, chaotic events unfold, threatening the ghost town itself, its rickety and bizarre townsfolk, the twenty-somethings who haven’t a clue what they got themselves into when joining a cult, along with the love brewing between Wyatt and Isaac.
Can Isaac find closure? Can they build any sort of relationship, in the wake of so much terror? Can they save the town of Rhode’s Pike, much like Isaac, is perhaps unwilling to be saved?
