I worked in a grocery store overnight. It was an easy job. Keep the store stocked, survive the boredom of long nights, and help the impossibly large and mysterious man that came in frequently.
A man that ended up actually being an alien smuggler.
Long story short, I got caught up in his problems and had to flee Earth with him. We hid on a distant space station while we waited for the people chasing him to back off long enough for him to take me home. In the meantime, we had to sell the bananas he had taken from Earth on the black market.
That’s right, bananas.
I almost blurted out some information better kept secret and he put a hand over my mouth to keep me quiet. In an admittedly immature move, I licked his palm to try and get him to move his hand.
Suddenly, his demeanor had changed, his eyes flickering to strange colors when he looked at me. He became overly possessive and defensive about me, and I had a weird feeling that he wanted much more than my company.
The strangest thing? I was starting to want more from him, too. The red skin, the horns, the body that could shift to stone, the unnatural heat radiating off of him. Taren seemed like more of a demon than an alien, but I would be lying if I didn’t say he was hot. And Taren was hot, both literally and figuratively.
Now, we just have to survive the seedier sections of the sprawling space station and get me back home unscathed. Piece of cake, right? Except, maybe I don’t want to go home.
