I look down to see the most hateful expression on the most gorgeous face I’ve ever seen in my entire life. When Max’s eyes meet mine, recognition takes over and I wish I could I could say it brought a smile to her face.
“This is the second time today you’ve been at the center of causing me physical bodily harm. Think you can cut the shit for a while?”
I love her feisty little mouth.
I smile. “A bit dramatic today aren’t we?”
“As opposed to any other day?” Her friend snorts next to her. That earns her an elbow in the ribs.
I can’t help but attempt to stifle a laugh. I stretch out my hand to this girl.
“I’m Abel. Nice to see someone else gets the brunt end of her bark.”
“I’m Kat. Nice to meet you.” She says as she takes my hand. “And don’t let her size fool you. She’s proficient in Krav Maga. Her bite is a hundred times worse than her bark.” She winks.
“Abel…. So that makes you the new asshole neighbor right?”
