Dragons are scum. I know this. So why does this one make me feel so good?

I know I should be proud to be a Templar. My daddy was one, and my granddaddy, too. And I am proud, don’t get me wrong. Of course I want to be part of ridding the earth of dragons before they can hurt anyone else. It’s just that the money doesn’t hurt, either. Not when every spare cent I have is going towards Mama’s hospital bills.
When Sasha comes storming into my life, I think I’m a goner. He’s a dragon – and he’s not exactly happy that I helped the Templars kidnap his brother. But it’s more than that. The pull between us feels electric, and the intensity in his eyes makes me shiver – in more ways than one. And best of all? If I help him, he’s promised help in finding a cure for Mama’s cancer.
However, the Templars aren’t an organization that plays around. If I switch sides, I’m toast. Can I afford to take that risk? Or more importantly, can I afford not to?
