I’m one of the most talented and highly regarded players at the old confidence game, if I do say so myself. I’m modest too. One thing I’m not is sentimental. My mantra is that every person I meet is a potential mark, and I wear it like it’s my red badge of courage.
The first thing they’d teach in con man school, if there was such a thing, is never get emotionally attached to the mark. And if there was a school like that, this woman would cause me to be expelled. The moment our eyes meet, I have to tell myself over and over that this is just business. She’s not a real person with emotions, hopes, and dreams. And she’s definitely not the most appealing woman I’ve ever met in my life.
This is just a game, and I’m in it for the win.
