Gray Kennedy had just completed an eight-year term in the U.S. Army and was ready to return home to Chicago. He had to make one quick stop in Memphis before he could be reunited with his family. For the last few years, he had held on to a promise that he’d make sure Jane Bishop and her daughter were doing well once he got back to the states.
