As a serial wet blanket and straight shooter, Jake was baffled by the long string of bad breakups he had experienced of the past few years. This all came to a head when his most recent girlfriend unceremoniously breaks up with him by trying to cast a curse on him (no, really). Fed up after years and years of this, no one would give him a straight answer about being wrong.
So, he assumed he had nothing to lose by going on one of the most popular reality T.V. shows in the country. If no one will tell him what was wrong to his face, the entire country would certainly do so on the internet. He would have the opportunity to learn once and for all what goes wrong between him and the women he dates and he’d get to do so while taking in the scenes on a tropical paradise. But as soon as the cameras are rolling and the microphones are on, he learns that things aren’t always what they seem when it comes to the entertainment industry.
As an eligible young bachelor on a dating show, he is one of many contestants vying for the affections of a beautiful young woman. However, Jake finds himself more drawn to the ever-mysterious Lance. Who is this man and how does he seem to know what will happen on the show before it does? Is he a plant and why does he appear to show special interest in Jake?
Jake is left to contend with all this while watching his back around likeable, but untrustworthy producers. Rounding out the menagerie of colorful characters is a charismatic ex beauty queen, baffled P.A.s, clever producers, and a curmudgeonly showrunner who is proof that there is always more than meets the eye.
