Maya:
I’ve had a crush on the Daisy Hills Fire Chief since the very first time I met him.
Never mind that there’s at least fifteen years between us.
Or that I’ve been dating a lot of duds lately.
The first Wednesday is still my favorite day of the month because he comes by the library for a fire code inspection.
But this inspection is one for the books.
