I came back to the UK to be closer to the family I left behind after college. Not to get involved with freshly-heartbroken lawyers. For the love of hockey, please, not the divorcées! Between my uncompromising captain and the younger sister that I barely knew, my relationships were complicated enough without Scarlett.
Thankfully, she seemed to agree.

Scarlett:
No. Just no. My heart couldn’t handle another rejection, and certainly not from the hot new next-door neighbour. I didn’t care how much my heart raced for the hockey player that night on our shared patio, I had to put myself first and focus on moving ahead.
Easier said than done.
I’d made a mistake in my marriage, who was to say I hadn’t made a mistake in my career choice, too? Noah certainly seemed to think so. My mind painted vivid pictures of the two of us together until my resolution weakened. But hesitating for so long might mean I’ve lost my chance forever.

What neither realise is that, sometimes, building a home takes more than sturdy walls and artistic decoration. Patient neighbours just might be the final piece of the puzzle.
