Egon Hoffstad might be half Viking, half Scot, but he looks like he has just jumped off a Viking ship ready to raid! Egon offers to help her, but to his surprise, she makes it clear that she wants nothing to do with him, as he looks every bit like the men who took her father. Meanwhile, Caoimhe’s sister finds for her another half-Viking man who can become her husband and protector and possibly help her find their father. Egon would have left then and there if the man Caoimhe is about to betroth was not a treacherous snake and one of his worst enemies.

Even though he just met her, something inside him tells him not to leave the lass alone with this man, so he insists on looking for her father with them. Caoimhe gets over her initial anger and realizes that a warrior like Egon will be helpful, so the unlikely triad begins the journey. However, the tormented girl begins to remember more and more of the raid, and she starts identifying Egon as one of the attackers!

Could the son of the Laird have a secret life as a Viking raider? This journey could be the perfect chance for Caoimhe and her betrothed to take Egon out. But what Caoimhe does not know is that killing Egon will be the perfect ending to a masterfully conducted plan she has been trapped into…
