I always had a crush on Boyd Kelly, star baseball player and our high school’s answer to Brad Pitt.
He was too popular and important back then to notice little old me, so I pined from a distance.
The only time he ever spoke to me was right before he left for college. He told me I was pretty and sweet, and not to sell myself short.
It made an impression on me.
I’ve held out for a guy who loves me for who I am.
Now that Boyd’s given up his baseball career, he’s back in town.
I can’t help pining from a distance again.

BOYD:
Major League Baseball was tougher than I ever thought it would be.
It’s time to hang up my bat and glove, unless it’s to coach rec league.
I’m okay with that. I’m back home, in the town I love.
And when I see Gia Barrett’s still here, prettier than ever?
I think I’m going to take my shot.
