A tragic accident leaves ten-year-old Andre orphaned, and with no other relatives, there is no other option for him other than the orphanage.
Only a year younger, Simone had no clue why the new boy cried all the time and lashed out at the nuns. They were only trying to help him. All she knew was that he needed a friend and she was determined to be that person, no matter how many times Andre rejected her. Once he accepted her friendship, the two quickly became inseparable until it was time for Andre to leave the orphanage behind on his eighteenth birthday.
With a bag of clothes, a small amount of money and the birthday cake Simone made him, he left with a promise that he would return for her. When her time to leave came and went, he didn’t come back though. Heartbroken and lost, she decided to stay and work in the only home she had ever known, never forgetting Andre or giving up her hope of his return.
Inspired by the nuns that raised him, and following his calling from God, he is reassigned to a church to finish seminary only to find the very last person he expected to see again. The very one he had left behind so many years ago. As they work together in service, he found himself doubting the life he chose for himself, doubting the vows he was soon to take.
His feelings for his best friend had only grown in his absence though and he wasn’t certain if he should take the chance and act on them, or if Simone even felt the same way. Would Andre be able to remain faithful to the cloth, or will the temptation prove to be too great?
